Bought a 2011 model from a Northampton carshop dealership. Was impressed by the handling, and responsive 1.4 engine. The 6 speed manual gearbox was handy for long distance and fuel economy was excellent. A good solid car with 65,000 on the clock. Had the vehicle for 4 years and last MOT failed on a worn steering link. I looked underneath the vehicle and there was rust everywhere. The link bolts were so rusty the mechanics had to grind them off. That cost £400. Was told there was a problem with loose/worn steering and the other link would need replacing next year. I part exed the vehicle for a skoda Fabia. I did some research on rusting Toyotas and found in the US. multiple problems with foreign sourced steel, not properly treated for rust, especially pickup trucks. I am guessing some of this steel was used on the Urban cruiser. I have had Toyota cars for many years, but never seen a chassis with that much advanced rust.
